I never thought for one moment it was NOT Fairport. Richard Thompson has confirmed he owned a GS30. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can confirm or otherwise?

It’s definetely Fairport Convention, in their first album line-up, still with Judy Dyble on vocals (ca 1968). The song is a cover of Mimi & Richard Farinha’s “Reno, Nevada”. From the same TV sessions there is also a live performance of “Time Will Show The Wiser”, originally recorded by Emitt Rhodes band The Merry-Go-Round.

This is Fairport Convention. No doubt of this. The B.B.C. showed other extracts from this recording as part of a documentary about Richard Thompson.
These original band members are clearly recognisable if one knows what they looked like in the early part of their career e.g. Ian Matthews went by the name Ian MacDonald at that time and left the band to form Matthew’s Southern Comfort (Woodstock was their biggest hit), Ashley Hutchins formed Steeleye Span with Maddy Priors and Martin Carthy etc. Martin Lamble was tragically killed in a van crash. It’s a long time ago. Fairport Convention, 100% guilty as charged!
